Keeping up with the Team

November 2, 2009 ~ 0 comments

So the year has been going well, the guys are getting to know each other and learn more about themselves. The beginning consisted of the team practicing music from morning till supper time. They are not all natural singers but they are learning to sing and have improved. We sang for the opening weekend of the Bible Institute and in a few days left for tour. So we started tour in Indiana then to Ohio, West Virgina, and finishing up in Alabama. So we pulled into Indiana and actually spent the first night at Micah's parents. The team sang our first concert at Micah's home church and we have done many since. The next day we had the chance to go the Indianapolis Motor Speedway and have a personal showing of the place because Micah's dad is a long time well respected Indiana state trooper and now is a major. He had the connections to get us on this tour. The nice thing is that we not only get to travel to churches and assist them in their services, youth groups, and evangelistic outreaches we also get to do sight seeing and travel to many places. Now some of the different types of events we got to be apart of were church services such as sunday morning and night services. We would also do their mid week services. In these services our goal is to spread the gospel because there are always those who need to year the good news even in church. We will do a mixture of singing like a concert or sometimes a few songs for worship. We also do skits that are funny but get across a message usually after our singing and to build to the message which some of the guys were able to speak but most of the time the area missionary we were with or Micah would speak. We are able to encourage the churches that we go too to get into the Word, live the faith, and share the news. Another event that we get to be apart of is the Word of Life youth group evangelistic event called STORM. The Idea behind this is to have kids in your youth group go out and invite every unsaved kid they know and any those kids know to come to help eat fifty pounds of ice cream or 120 pieces of pizza or whatever. This event is good to get your youth to reach out and also to bring the lost in and point them to Jesus. The part that we play is playing the games with the kids as they come in and build relationships. Then we do a beginning game to break the ice then sing some, do some give aways, do a skit that leads into the speaker, and then the speaker gives the gospel. We have done many of these and each time see kids come forward and then we also have the opportunity to counsel them at the end. Now at each of these areas there is an area missionary that works with us as we minister in their area. It is an awesome privilege to see the heart these men have for the Lord and for His church. So they are an important part to what we do also. Aaron Kingsbury, Ken Dady and other area missionaries are all so different, but they all are so dedicated to what God has for them and they taught each of us so much. So when we look back at our fall tour there are things that maybe we would have done differently but God is good through all our failures and did a great work through 11 guys with different gifts and personalties. We as a team want to first thank the Lord for all he did and then for you that support us in your prayers and support because you are a vital part of our ministry. Now we are in florida and starting to clean up the stage and get ready to be the stage crew for the Sights and Sounds of Christmas production at our Florida campus.

We began this year as Impact at the beginning of September. We met in Schroon Lake and spent about a month learning the songs we would sing on tour, working and training for the year ahead. On September 26th we left to begin our fall tour. Our first stop was Indiana, then Ohio. We are currently in Alabama. We have had the privilege of getting to help out with Word of Life STORM events at churches. A STORM event involves kids at the church going out into the community and bringing kids back in the night for a fun event . Then we have an opportunity to share the Gospel with them. We have worked with Word of Life Area Missionaries Ken Dady and Aaron Kingsbury. We have done some chapels at schools, helped with an FCA, performed at some local churches and special church events. It's been great so far. Keep checking back, we'll be updating about what's going on regularly.
