I was born into a Christian family where both my parents knew and loved the Lord. I grew up going to church pretty much every time the doors were open. I was really into scripture memory growing up and living for Christ, but really I was just living for myself. I say that because I was caught up in sin and didn't want those around me to find out about it. I was about five when one Sunday I was sitting in service and an invitation was given. I sat there next to my dad and saw these people going forward, and I told my dad I wanted to do that. He didn't go through the salvation message then, but waited until we got home. I don't think I completely understood it because soon after I developed sinful habits that I'm not at all proud of, and as I grew older I would stop one habit but would, develop another sinful habit to replace it. I believe I didn't truly trust Christ as my Savior until I was seventeen. I had just finished a week at a church camp I had been going to most my life. When I got home I just broke down, and God showed me that I had never actually trusted him as my Savior. I didn't completely change at that point. I still struggled with some sin habits, but the person I was before coming to Christ I never want to be again. I want to continue to grow in my walk with Christ and live for Him every day of my life.
I found out about Word of Life through Word of Life Island. I came up with my youth group for three years as a camper. I enjoyed it so much that I thought I would enjoy the Bible Institute just as much. Now I am excited about this year as a member of the Word of Life Impact Team.
